Modelový Parlament Slovenska
About us
We are a civic association that shows young people how democracy works, not from a textbook, but in practice.

How it started
The Model Parliament of Slovakia was founded in 2021 by three high-school students. They were frustrated by how little their peers knew about politics and decided to do something about it.
Our first model conference, where students simulated a session of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, took place in April 2022. Since then we have held several nationwide simulations directly in the parliament's plenary chamber, with more than 500 young people from all over Slovakia and abroad.
In the regions too
In 2024 and 2025 we expanded to the regional level with simulated sessions of regional councils in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice. Students learn how public administration works and what shapes everyday life in their region.
What you learn
Participants are divided into model political parties and committees. They discuss current issues and draft bills together, then present them at a simulated plenary session with debate, amendments and a vote. After the conference we send the strongest proposals, the ones that could hold up in the real legislative process, to members of the National Council.
Throughout the conference participants build communication and debating skills, critical thinking and an interest in public affairs.
Why we do it
We want to strengthen young people's civic and political literacy, give them room to participate actively and offer them a real chance to help shape public policy. We believe that involving young people in democratic processes early helps raise a responsible, informed and engaged generation.
Partners and cooperation
We work with the National Council of the Slovak Republic and the Faculty of Law of Comenius University. We also have cooperation memoranda with the Slovak Ministry of Health and the Model Parliament of Czechia.
